How to download and use an iPhone sound
Preview a recording and open its sound page. Use MP3 in an editor, or choose “Download for iPhone” to save an M4A file for playback on iOS.
How to turn a downloaded sound into a ringtone
Save the file in Files, import it into GarageBand and prepare a clip of up to 30 seconds. In the GarageBand project browser, choose Share → Ringtone and export it.
Downloading an M4A file does not install a ringtone automatically. Whether you can use it for notifications depends on the individual app.
